What does “accept” mean?
12th Graders:
If you receive an “accept” or an “admit” from one of the schools you applied to early, it means that you have been accepted into that college or university’s next class. Congratulations!
If you were accepted to your Early Decision school, that acceptance is binding. Log into the portal of your Early Decision school, accept their offer, and withdraw all other applications that you have submitted to other schools. If you were accepted to one of your Early Action schools, you have until May 1st to decide whether you would like to attend that school. If you were accepted early action to your top choice and financial aid or merit aid offers from that school work for you, you may decide now to attend that school. However, most students consider their early action offers of admission as they move into their regular decision applications. It is often wise to wait until April when all your results are in to compare offers of admission and financial aid.
11th Graders:
The college process can often be a long and complicated one, but know that there is an end to the process! Your goal in the college process is to receive multiple offers of admission so you can choose which school is best for you at the end of your process. Put your emphasis into building a diverse list of schools that are good matches for you. This will give you plenty of options to choose from once all your results are back from your applications.
